Carlos “Chapis” Joel Romero is a rising force in the Mexican music scene, specializing in the evolving Sierreño subgenre. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Chapis bridges cultures through his sound—blending traditional Mexican influences with modern production techniques to create a fresh and dynamic sonic identity.
A graduate of Cal State Dominguez Hills, Chapis sharpened his skills at Yellowroom Music, where he interned and collaborated with some of the most influential names in Latin music, including Gerardo Ortiz, Código FN, Deorro, Conjunto Primavera, Alemán MX, and Primos del Este. These experiences laid the foundation for his rapid ascent in the industry.
At just 23 years old, Chapis has already made a notable impact. He contributed to the production, mixing, and mastering of “Rosones” by Fuerza Regida and Jorsshh—one of the standout tracks in the genre. He also participated as mixing engineer on “Me Jalo,” a Latin Grammy and Grammy-nominated track recognized in the Best Regional Mexican Song of the Year category, further solidifying his presence at the highest levels of the industry.
Chapis also participated in Fuerza Regida’s recent album 111XPANTIA, which earned a top position on Billboard’s Best Albums chart, ranking #2, marking another major milestone in his growing discography. In addition, he contributed to Clave Especial’s debut album—a breakthrough project that played a pivotal role in officially launching the group’s career and establishing their presence within the regional Mexican scene.
As a producer, mixing, and mastering engineer for Street Mob Records and Fuerza Regida, Chapis will continue to collaborate closely with them—not only to push his own creative ideas but also to develop new talent and cultivate the sound that will define the future of regional Mexican music.
